Dan G. Davis, CPA, manages the Sponsored Programs at Sam Houston State University, from the proper submission of proposals to potential Sponsors through the post award administration. Duties include negotiating contracts, insuring compliance with the terms of Sponsors and the State of Texas, billing and reporting on over twenty millions in support. In addition Mr. Davis is responsible for identifying, protecting and commercializing any intellectual property that results form the research activities. This activity has led to the creation of Active Water Sciences, the first start-up from Sam Houston where the University participates as an equity partner.

Prior to joining Sam Houston State Mr. Davis served as the Associate Vice President and Executive Director for Technology Development at the University of Oklahoma. There he promoted the transfer of university technology from the Norman, Health Sciences Center and Tulsa campuses and organized and negotiated targeted collaborations between universities industry and governments. This effort led to the creation of thirty two companies, raised more than $60m in capital and generated more than $20m in cash and equity for the University of Oklahoma and its inventors. Leveraging of this intellectual property has increased funded research at the University of Oklahoma by more than $5m during 2005 and 2006.
