Mr. James M. Kasischke is the Supervisory Patent Counsel at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport.

As the Supervisory Patent Counsel for Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Mr. Kasischke is responsible for all aspects of intellectual property law including patent licensing, patent application drafting and prosecution, technology transfer, copyright matters, trade secrets and data rights. He has done a significant amount of work in technology transfer agreements such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements.

Mr. Kasischke has drafted patents covering a wide range of arts including mechanical launch systems, acoustic arrays, computer algorithms and electronic sensor systems. Recently drafted patent applications include a battery charger for electrical vehicles, fiber optic acoustic arrays and an interval programming routine for autonomously piloting unmanned vehicles.

Originally born in Dallas, Texas, Mr. James M. Kasischke earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A &M University in 1986 and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1991. He is a member of the Washington State Bar and a registered United States Patent Attorney. Mr. Kasischke has been with the Navy’s Office of General Counsel since 1991. In 2009, he was honored by receiving the Navy Office of General Counsel’s Intellectual Property Attorney Achievement Award and as a co-recipient of the Department of Defense George Linsteadt Technology Transfer Award for his work in technology transfer and patent licensing.
