Michigan Agency To Showcase State at the WBT08
Michigan Economic Development Corporation a WBT08 Gold Plus Sponsor
January 3, 2008 | Scottsdale, AZ – In a bid to nationally highlight recent initiatives to catalyze Michigan entrepreneurs, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has announced a 15K Gold Plus sponsorship for the 2008 WBTshowcase (WBT08), the nation’s premier showcase for undiscovered technologies.
The MEDC will join top Michigan companies selected by the WBTshowcase at the March 2008 event in Arlington, Texas.
"The MEDC is proud to join true Michigan innovators in highlighting our state's high-tech transformation," said James C. Epolito, MEDC President and CEO.
According to the MEDC, Michigan agencies are increasingly coordinating efforts to spur technological innovation and job creation within the state.
"Global businesses, researchers and entrepreneurs are discovering that Michigan has the talent, resources and determination to develop and commercialize today's technology into tomorrow's cutting-edge companies, products and jobs," said Mr. Epolito.
In addition to two venture-funding components of the MEDC 21st Century Jobs Fund – an initiative the MEDC says will pump $200 million into new and growing businesses during the next three years – Michigan has recently won hosting rights for the 2008 Annual Conference of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF). The NASVF’s Fall 2008 event is expected to draw 300 investment and economic growth professionals from across the nation to Detroit.
