NSF Renews DCN SBIR/STTR Commercialization Contract

DCN to Continue Technical Assistance for NSF Phase I Grantees

November 13, 2007 | Oklahoma City, OK – The National Science Foundation (NSF) recently renewed its contract with Development Capital Networks (DCN) – an approved GSA contractor on the MOBIS Schedule – to provide commercialization planning assistance for NSF’s SBIR/STTR Phase I grantees.

Launched in 2006, DCN’s SBIR/STTR commercialization planning program is modeled after the WBTshowcase, the nation’s premier forum showcasing seed stage companies and platform technologies.

By contractual arrangement, DCN provides NSF’s SBIR/STTR Phase I grantees with professionally mentored technical assistance leading to the creation of an executable commercialization plan. DCN is currently advising over 250 SBIR/STTR funded companies.

“We look forward to leveraging DCN’s mentor networks to educate and connect these promising seed stage companies with investment and licensing communities,” said Paul Huleatt, DCN Entrepreneurial Services Team Leader and CEO of the WBTshowcase. “Our service to the National Science Foundation taps the value of these extensive networks.”

Created by DCN in 2002, the WBTshowcase represents the largest collection of high-potential technologies emanating from top universities, labs and research institutions from across the country and around the globe. The next WBTshowcase is set for March 26-27, 2008 in Arlington, TX.
