The WBTshowcase is the premier event showcasing the world's largest collection of cutting-edge, first-to-market technologies before leading seed investors and Fortune 500 licensees.
Mission statement
The WBT facilitates the movement of breakthrough technologies from top universities, federal laboratories, federal agencies, and leading research institutions into the marketplace by leveraging industry professionals in a disciplined manner and unbiased environment.
What types of technologies qualify?
Submissions range from pure or idea-stage technologies still in the lab, to startup companies that meet the following criteria:
· “Platform technology” – could spawn many products
· “First in the space” – could create a whole new industry
· “Close to market” – few barriers remain for commercial application
Who should apply?
· Researchers and research institutions seeking to license or commercialize advanced technologies.
· Enterprises or businesses with advanced, proprietary technology seeking seed stage venture capital.
How many technologies are selected?
· Up to 75 technologies. All selected receive exhibit space and the opportunity to make a 3 or 8-minute investor-oriented presentation.
· The top 25 are coached by Mentor teams comprised of investors, licensees, and/or tech commercialization experts.
How can I apply?
· Complete an on-line two-three page summary application.
· There’s no cost to apply.

Over 400 participants attended the World’s Best Technologies Showcase in 2005.
The audience can be broken down into three following sectors:

The investors/corporate licensees include 106 bonafide seed venture investors and Fortune 500 licensing scouts plus 35 independent investment capital or licensing consultants and intermediaries. With investors and licensees making up almost half of the audience not presenting a technology, technology exhibitors can expect roughly 1 out of every 2 participants entering his or her exhibit booth will be a bonafide investor or Fortune 500 licensee.
